Grassroots Organizing Training Session

1PM

Ivan Parra has a great reputation as a gifted political organizer and trainer for a reason. As lead organizer for Durham CAN (Congregations, Associations and Neighborhoods), he is one of the best young organizers in the country. Ivan will provide a special, three-hour training session on The Art of Grassroots Participation and Democracy on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Sanford School.

This highly practical training will focus on the core concepts and skills that the Industrial Areas Foundation has been teaching citizens across the country for more than six decades. It will be useful for Duke undergraduate students who want to learn how to influence public policy from the ground-up. The Hart Leadership Program is hosting the training in an effort to strengthen political participation at Duke.

Durham CAN is a nonpartisan, multi-issue, inter-faith network made up of local institutions engaged in building relationships, identifying common issues of concern and engaging thousands of residents in grassroots democracy.

If you are interested in attending the session, please contact Diego Quezada. Lunch will be provided.
