Ambassador James Joseph, Hart Leadership’s Leader in Residence, recently gave two speeches in the Triangle in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
In his first speech, “Remembering Martin Luther King as a Patriot,” delivered at Governor Perdue’s Martin Luther King Celebration for State Employees in Raleigh, Joseph spoke about the need for Americans to ensure a just world for their fellow citizens, to seek leaders who elevate and inspire them, and to refrain from viewing diversity as an inevitable cause of division. Ambassador Joseph also spoke in Chapel Hill at the University of North Carolina’s Twenty-Seventh Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Banquet. In his speech, “The Time is Now: The Life and Legacy of Martin Luther King Revisited,” Joseph pushed for a new narrative to create a more unified society where we view the problems of our friends and neighbors as our own.
Ambassador Joseph was a leader in the civil rights movement in Alabama where he worked with Dr. King.
