For their project as part of the Democracy Lab course, Political Engagement Project Fellows Erin Lee, Catherine Martinez, and Julianna Rennie sought to answer the question: what is ethical representation and how do we practice it?

The group interviewed different members of the community to produce an audio documentary featuring a variety of perspectives and their own personal reflections. They explored the way Asians and COVID-19 have been represented during the pandemic, the historical background of the relationship between xenophobia and disease, white supremacy and Asian-Black relations, and the visibility, or lack thereof, of Asians and Asian Americans.

Their hope is that this is the beginning of a process to create a society in which people can exist, and exist in the truest versions of themselves.
