Our new Associate in Research, Ana Ramirez, has been featured in the Duke Chronicle for her work around immigrant student advocacy. Ana (T’20) was born in Ecuador and came to the United States in 2001. While a Duke student, Ana helped co-found Duke Define American, an immigrant student advocacy group.

She attended the Home is Here rally back in November of 2019 with other Duke students as “a way to not only show [their] support to each other, but also to show [their] support to the immigrant community of Duke and Durham.” In June, the U.S. Supreme Court voted to reject the Trump Administration’s effort to end DACA, a legal protection for undocumented young adults. Read the full article here.
