During a special ceremony at The US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland at the end of March, Mitch Hart received the Distinguished Graduate Award.   Milledge A. Hart, III graduated from the Naval Academy in 1956, and was one of five recipients of the 2017 award.  The award announcement stated that each recipient was chosen for “a demonstrated commitment to a lifetime of service and for their significant contributions to the U.S. Naval Academy, the Navy, the Marine Corps and the nation.”

The Alumni Association of the U.S. Naval Academy honored Mr. Hart with a brief biographical video, highlighting his many personal and professional achievements, after which Mitch offered an acceptance speech.

Mr. Hart described how, in the midst of student turmoil over the Vietnam War during the 1970’s, he began visiting and giving talks on college campuses. These illuminating conversations with students from all over the country allowed him to realize that  “positively impacting what I saw as lacking—the study and real world practice of ethical leadership on college campuses—would be the passion that would drive the rest of my life.”
