Durham Giving Project – Spring 2002
The Durham Giving Project is a student-created and instructed house course that focuses on the philosophy of giving, the process of grant making, and public policy issues that deeply affect Durham. The initial class was held in spring 2003. The founders and other students fundraise for each class, of which $1,000 is matched by the University each year. Through the house course, the students have distributed in excess of $100,000 to local nonprofit organizations in ten years with over 200 student participants.
