Ishan Thakore (SOL 2012) and Sanford staff member Katie Fernelius co-produced a radio documentary that aired on the BBC about the battle over infrastructure and utilities in Lagos.

Ishan  is currently a researcher on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, a late-night talk and news satire television program that airs on TBS. He spent a year traveling around Cambodia and South Africa where he was completing his Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship. He published stories for the National Geographic Voices blog and other international media outlets.

Ishan graduated from Duke in 2015 with a Public Policy degree and concentrations in journalism and global health.  During his time at Duke, he researched e-learning solutions for the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) in Ahmedabad, India, and technology access of community leaders in Muhuru Bay, Kenya and how distance-learning could be used to train lay health workers.  He also interned with the United States Agency for International Development on their Digital Development Team in Washington, D.C.
