Tina Chen (class of 2017) is from Ellicott City, Maryland. She is pursuing a Computer Science major and a Chinese minor. She enjoys working as an advocate for the Community Empowerment Fund and serving on the Duke University Emergency Medical Squad. She also has an interest in the data visualization of social networks, which she has used in her work with the Bass Connections team, “Community Care of Frail Elders in Cross Cultural Settings.” For her SOL summer, Tina worked in Dhaka, Bangladesh with Criticalink, where she explored the possibility of combining cell phone apps and emergency medical care.
