Ashley Gutierrez-Torres is a sophomore at Duke University pursuing a double major in Public Policy and Global Health with a minor in Medical Sociology. As a Laidlaw Scholar and QuestBridge Scholar, she currently serves as a member of the Laidlaw Foundation International Advisory Board where she helps guide a research framework supporting over 2,500 Scholars globally. Her academic and professional work focuses on the intersection of mental health, resource insecurity, and immigration policy. At Duke, Ashley is a Research Assistant at the Duke Global Health Institute, managing bilingual data for mental health interventions, and a Research Lead at the Sanford School of Public Policy, investigating immigration history in Alamance County. She also serves as a Policy Lead with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, drafting legislation to address energy and food insecurity in Puerto Rico. Her leadership includes founding the Duke chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) and serving as the Community Partnership Coordinator for Beyond Borders. During her free time, Ashley enjoys matcha, runs, and dancing.
