BIOGRAPHY

Lara Dincer is a second-year student from Davidson, North Carolina, double-majoring in Biology and Computer Science. She hopes to become a physician-scientist, studying the molecular mechanisms of aging to inform treatments for age-related diseases. Her passion for research began while investigating DNA demethylation and stress responses using Next-Generation Nanopore Sequencing, an experience that sparked her curiosity about epigenetics and the dynamic nature of the genome. She is currently exploring mitochondrial stress, continuing to bridge her interests in biology and computational analysis. At Duke, Lara is a part of Vertices, the undergraduate research website, and serves on the Trinity Student Research Advisory Council. Outside the lab, she is always down for a good run, an impromptu tennis match, or a Survivor rewatch.
