Naflah Mohammed
she/herBIOGRAPHY
Naflah Mohammed is a sophomore from New York studying Evolutionary Biology and Public Policy with a minor in Earth & Climate Sciences. Her interests lie at the nexus of science, policy, and ethics, exploring the ways communities approach environmental crises like climate change. Exploring the interrelationality of communities and their environments in the Global South, she aims to redefine our approach to conservation, developing plans that are both respectful of communities’ ways of life and sustainable long-term. At Sanford, she works with Dr. Scott-Buechler on equitable climate policy, researching the development, application, and scalability of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) in India, Kenya, and Brazil. At Duke, she is an intern with the Duke Gardens’ Equity Through Stories program, Events Co-Chair for the Asian Students Association, and a SPIRE Fellow. In her free time, you’ll often find her doing nature photography, testing out new recipes, or going on side quests with her friends.
