Global Health Security

Abstract

The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a global health nonprofit addressing challenges faced by the poor and marginalized. This summer, I worked with an AKF team to create a situation analysis and ten-year framework for future AKF services in regions of Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Pakistan. I created or compiled three documents: a numerical spreadsheet summarizing adolescent health indicators across regions, a spreadsheet summarizing eighteen national health policy documents and how they relate to AKF’s framework, and an introductory presentation on global health security and how AKF can incorporate global health security into its services.  The adolescent indicator statistics will be used within the adolescent health section of the framework document. The national health policy document spreadsheet will provide an easy reference for government goals and polices around public health when coordinating with governments. The presentation on global health security will be a starting point from which to determine how AKF will participate in global health security.
