Gender Pay Inequality in Professional Sports: How Policy Shapes A Consistent Divide

My Sanford Honors Thesis examined gender pay inequality across three professional American sports: basketball, tennis, and soccer. I analyzed how pay imbalance between men’s and women’s sports is perpetuated by the organizations’ governing documents and the market for watching sports. My analysis focused on whether there was room for a policy intervention (similar to Title IX) to equalize the salaries of professional athletes.
