Abstract
Maya demonstrated her leadership as a PEP fellow by working with Mediawise, a News Literacy Project, to advocate for news literacy education for students in middle and high schools. Her senior thesis examined the relationship between the decline in local news resources (proxied using staffing numbers and advertising revenue) and the quantity and content of stories produced by local newsrooms about their elected U.S. House members.
