Ryan Kim is a second-year student from New York City intending to major in Biology and minor in Education. He is passionate about expanding access to scientific research and exploring the intersection of medicine and education. His interest in health disparities and medical education grew from early research on clinical outcomes and mentoring experiences that revealed how hands-on learning can empower underrepresented students. At Duke, Ryan is involved with the Health and Environment Scholars Program and Duke Muser. He also volunteers as an instructor at the Durham Literacy Center where he supports adult learners in achieving their educational goals. Ultimately, he hopes to pursue a career in medical education, empowering future healthcare professionals to approach medicine with equity, empathy, and curiosity. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, trying new foods, and watching movies.
