Fostering LGBTQ Empowerment: Contributions and Leadership

Anushri Saxena’s spent her SOL summer at the Montrose Center, Houston’s LGBTQ community hub. She worked across multiple departments at the Montrose Center, including Development, Senior Services, and Youth Services. A primary project she worked on was a program evaluation for the Center’s Hatch Youth Program. The evaluation included conducting a series of focus groups and individual interviews which formed the basis of a summary report and recommendations for the organization, based on her findings. Through her experience with the Montrose Center, Anushri learned about the inner workings of a non-profit organization and observed how asset-based community development works in practice.
