Does Business + Altruism = Perfection?

This event in Team Kenan’s iThink series will feature Professor Tony Brown, Professor of the Practice of Public Policy and Sociology and director of the Hart Leadership Program, and will focus on the role of ethics and altruism in business, particularly in social entrepreneurship.

The discussion will consider questions such as: What characteristics distinguish social entrepreneurship? How is its purpose unique? Can we distinguish whether companies tend to champion this cause for their own benefit or for altruistic reasons? If selfish, is that OK as long as the purpose helps society; what amount of selfishness is necessary?

The iThink Cafe series consists of informal discussion events that focus on a new topic each session and provide an opportunity for students to talk about ethics in the everyday in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
