Jessie Xu (SOL ’20/PPS ’22) has been named a Schwarzman Scholar.

The Schwarzman Scholarship is a fully-funded, one-year master’s degree and leadership program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China that helps scholars respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st century.

Jessie, a public policy major, hails from West Hartford Conneticut. On campus, she helped cofound the Duke chapter of the Wellbeing Economy Alliance. After first conducting Bass Connections research on the 2008 financial crisis in her sophomore year, Jessie became passionate about affordable housing finance and urban economics, leading her to conducting research with the Federal Reserve Board on the cost of banking in low-income communities during her SOL summer.
