The Hart Leadership is excited to announce the addition of two members to our team. Thalia Halloran is the new Associate in Research, and Rahul Gouni is the new Program Coordinator and Media Specialist.

Thalia graduated from Duke in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and minors in Creative Writing and History. In each of her four years as an undergraduate, Thalia won a departmental award from the Duke English Department for her short fiction. Thalia also co-founded Duke University Stand-up Troupe (DUST), Duke’s first and only student stand-up comedy performance group. Thalia is particularly interested in researching the history of Spain and Ibero-America, and how Iberian colonial legacies have profoundly shaped the world we live in today. Thalia worked as the Program Assistant for the Hart Leadership Program from fall 2019 through fall 2021, and she is excited to return to Hart and the broader Sanford community. Thalia has also worked as the newsletter writer for News Not Noise with Jessica Yellin. In her free time, Thalia enjoys cooking, writing fiction, listening to podcasts, and making paper art.

Rahul is a first-year graduate student at Duke University pursuing his Master’s in Engineering Management. He is originally from Hyderabad, India and has previously graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in 2020. Upon graduation, he worked with Klimb.io, an Indian startup as a Product Manager.

Rahul also served as Founder President of E-Cell GRIET, the first and only Entrepreneurship Club at his undergraduate institution, where he led a team of 20 students to promote student-led startups in his college. His interest in leadership and passion to serve student community has led him to work with Sanford as a HLP Program Coordinator and Media Specialist.

Rahul is interested in Social Entrepreneurship and in creating products that simplify people’s lives. He believes that empathy is the key to tackle any problem. Outside work, he loves cooking Indian food, listening to different types of music, and simply wandering in nature.

Welcome, Thalia and Rahul!
